General Purpose Computers
There are 4 main types of general purpose computers, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. General purpose computers are sometimes bought with a particular purpose ( e.g. do homework) but are often used for a variety of tasks.

- Tablets
- Smartphones
Specialist purpose computers
Specialist purpose computers are usually bought with a specific purpose in mind and their hardware and software is usually limited to performing those particular tasks.
- Servers
- Micro-controllers
- Wearable computers
- Super-computers
