Application Software

Application software is software designed to carry out a task on the computer that isn’t related to the operating system itself and is usually end-user orientated software. For most user it is the reason they will have bought the device in the first place.

Application software usually doesn’t come pre-installed on the device and needs to be downloaded and install separately (as couple of notable exceptions are Apple’s Safari browser and Microsoft Paint!)

Web

Web Browsing Software

Web browsing software allows users to view and interact with web pages on the internet. It also provides the framework to access web based software as a service (SAAS) applications that are becoming increasingly popular.

Office

Office Software

Office software is primarily used in business and educational environments and includes a number of different types such as:

  • Word processing software
  • Presentation software
  • Spreadsheet editing software
  • Database management software

 

Productivity

Productivity Software

Productivity software is designed to improve time management and personnel management through tools such as :

  • GANTT chart applications
  • Workflow process tools
  • Job ticketing
