{"id":31,"date":"2016-05-16T10:51:21","date_gmt":"2016-05-16T10:51:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mr-west.uk\/blockly\/?page_id=31"},"modified":"2016-05-16T10:51:21","modified_gmt":"2016-05-16T10:51:21","slug":"information-for-teachers","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/learnlearn.uk\/blockly\/information-for-teachers\/","title":{"rendered":"Information for teachers"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<div class=\"arconix-tabs-horizontal\"><ul class=\"arconix-tabs\"><li data-arconix-icon=\" \" data-arconix-color=\" \" class=\"arconix-tab tab-Aboutthisunit\"><a class=\"\" href=\"#tab-Aboutthisunit\">About this unit<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-arconix-icon=\" \" data-arconix-color=\" \" class=\"arconix-tab tab-Lessonorder\"><a class=\"\" href=\"#tab-Lessonorder\">Lesson order<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-arconix-icon=\" \" data-arconix-color=\" \" class=\"arconix-tab tab-Assessment\"><a class=\"\" href=\"#tab-Assessment\">Assessment<\/a><\/li>\n<li data-arconix-icon=\" \" data-arconix-color=\" \" class=\"arconix-tab tab-Issues\"><a class=\"\" href=\"#tab-Issues\">Issues<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n<div class=\"arconix-panes\"><div class=\"arconix-pane pane-Aboutthisunit\">\n<p>This unit is an introduction to block based coding, using the free apps hosted by Google blockly.<\/p>\n<p>The apps themselves are hosted online, but there is the option to download them free of charge (with the exception perhaps of the Anrgybirds app), which might be useful if:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You need to run the unit offline or with an unreliable internet connection.<\/li>\n<li>Appspot take the \u00a0apps down off their site for some reason.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"arconix-pane pane-Lessonorder\">\n<p>The lessons can potentially be done in any order, but I have ordered them from easy to difficult, based on my students&#8217; general experience of the lessons.<\/p>\n<p>Each lesson starts easy but usually the last couple of challenges are a challenge even for experienced coders.<br \/>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"arconix-pane pane-Assessment\">\n<p><strong>Weekly Assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I assess the work by getting the students to upload the javascript for their solutions on to my assessment site and I give a level depending on how many challenges they have solved\u00a0successfully.<\/p>\n<p><strong>End of unit assessment<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will take the form of a short answer \/ multiple choice test, assessing the students&#8217; knowledge of the different bits of code.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"arconix-pane pane-Issues\">\n<p>Currently there are the following issues that you should be aware of:<\/p>\n<p>Screenshots of the solutions are available online, so it is quite possible that students cheat.
