This is achieved through the use of motherboard ports. They are now being gradually being replaced by the more versatile HDMI ports. HDMI have a high transmission capacity meaning that you can send higher resolution data and you can also send sound data via one cable.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current maximum resolution 4K (3840 x 2160) but newer Ultra High Speed HDMI can carry up to 10K at 120FPS.<\/li>\n<li>Less cables used as video and sound are sent on the same cable.<\/li>\n<li>Remote control signals can be passed back along the cable to control playback<\/li>\n<li>Video transmissions support encryption to reduce video piracy.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n<\/div><h2 class=\"tabtitle\">USB<\/h2>\n<div class=\"tabcontent\">\n\n<h3>Universal Serial Bus<\/h3>\n<div id=\"attachment_1277\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1277\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1277\" src=\"https:\/\/learnlearn.uk\/alevelcs\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/20\/2020\/11\/usb-port-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1277\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA<\/p><\/div>\n<p>These were originally introduced to allow connection of a wide variety of external peripherals (mice, keyboards, printers, external hard drives) without the need for a specific port for each device. This meant that devices could be plugged into any available port and can be hot-swapped with the need to manually configure them each time.
